Make A Difference in The Lives of Elders And Caregivers in Their Communities

Dec 17,2019

As we wait for the 2020 census results to fully understand how the baby boomer’s are changing the face of the U.S. population, the estimates currently suggest that 73 million American’s are aged 65 and older, with the oldest of that group turning 74-years-old in 2020.

Not only is this surge in the 65+ population the effect of that so-called baby boom experienced between 1946 and 1964, but our health care, lifestyles and medications have all improved allowing for longer lives.

Another important statistic that the 2020 census will reveal is that the boomer generation will outnumber children under the age of 18 in the coming years.  This imbalance in population will drive the need for more flexible and innovative senior care services, such as enhanced social-model adult day care.

The majority of senior care service companies provide care in an elder’s primary residence.  Non-medical home care is the largest of the senior care providers.  Noting that this is an important service that provides much needed daily care assistance to seniors wishing to remain living independently, it often falls short of providing the necessary social connection and cognitive stimulation needs of their clients.

With the forecasted “Silver Tsunami” approaching combined with rising costs of support services and lack of younger family members available to spend the day with their elderly loved one, Adult Day Care Programs will inevitably be in high demand.  Providing family caregivers an affordable respite for the day and seniors a safe, supportive and stimulating alternative to an isolating day at home.

Elder-Well® is currently expanding their Social-Supportive Adult Day Program nationally.  Contact us to learn more about how together Elder-Well® and Compassionate Entrepreneurs can work together to make a difference to elders and their caregivers in their communities.
